this about sums up my day. I watched inauguration stuff all day and did some homework. I believe Obama will be a fantastic president and I'm excited to see the change that "we" can make. I'm ready to take some responsibility.

I can only bake a few things well, actually make that only 1 thing well and that one thing is tannies. They are my families favorite and I have passed it on to be mine and Bryan's favorites. We make them atleast once a week. When all other food is gone and we need to go grocery shopping you can count on us still having all the ingredients to make Tannies. Delicious.
Tannies
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pb (we like crunchy)
cream together, then add:
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
capful of vanilla
1 cup oatmeal
mix all together and bake in 9x13 pan in 375 degree oven for 10-13 min. Do not overbake. Test with toothpick in center. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over top. When all is cool spread with frosting:
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup pb
3 tbs of milk

I was cleaning my house to get ready to have some friends over when I heard some squeaking. I was worried it was a mouse so I started hunting for it. Then I finally realized that it was this bird that lived in our bird house. I didn't know that birds actually bothered to live in the silly decorative bird houses but found out that this little sparrow did.

Crazy story: we were on our way to the Manhattan LDS Temple for our temple night this month (which was such a beautiful Temple, btw) driving down the Henry Hudson Parkway when traffic stops and a million emergency vehicles go rushing by. We think what the crap this must have been some crash so we turn on the radio to hear what has happened from a traffic update. Everything says the normal, 5 min wait here, a little slower on this road, this way all clear. So we listen a little more and then they start talking about how a plane had crash/landed into the Hudson River! If we had been 30 min earlier we probably would have seen it, but then again we might have been too worried about NYC traffic to be looking up. Anyways we were right there- we didn't get to see anything but it was still pretty cool.
